How do I know if a program is safe?
If you are installing an unknown program, you don’t. If you read about it from a popular computer magazine, chances are that it is safe to install in “Off Mode.”
You can search the major search engines to gather information about the product you are going to install. Carefully read through the links and you will probably be able to make an educated guess.
You can also run Scrubit (our behavioral badware cleaner) after an installation as a safety net. If you did not check to make sure the program is safe to install in “Off Mode,” then Scrubit will clean it off if it is badware. The program will be left intact if it is safe.
