How do you create a Safelist

C.) Creating a safelist on an infected Computer. - METHOD 1:

STEP 1:

Launch Scrubit, click on "Start" and allow Scrubit to identify and clean all the discovered processes. Scrubit will restart your computer and clean up the badware. Run Scrubit again until you get the message "No Badware Found."

STEP 2:

After the computer restarts launch Scrubit. Click on the "Options" menu. Click on "Restore Original Runs" (this restores your original startup programs).

STEP 3:

Click on the "Scrub’d" button this will launch the "Quarantine" page. Select a quarantined item in the list box and click "Verify" this will launch web check.

STEP 4:

Web check launches a search engine with results of the item selected from the list box. Read through the descriptions presented by the links. Many times it will be apparent the item is either safe or unsafe. If you must click on a link for further study, make sure you click on more than one in order to determine the pattern of the majority of the links. The pattern will show the item as safe, unsafe or unknown.

STEP 5:

If an item is safe click on "Restore." This item will have to be safelisted to prevent removal when you run Scrubit again (see- "Creating a safelist on a new computer").

STEP 6:

If an item is unsafe or unknown, leave the item in the list and select the next item to be verified and repeat the process until all items are verified.

STEP 7:

When all the items in the list box are verified click on “Done” and close Scrubit. Restart your computer to ensure the restored items are returned to operating condition. Your safelist is setup and you can run Scrubit to clean up your computer in the future without false positives.

* The pros to this approach are you will have a shorter list of items to verify and safelist.

NOTE: Don’t forget to safelist the items you restored in step 5. This will protect them from being removed by Scrubit should you need to run Scrubit again.
